  • This series of paintings created in 2020, became more about the experience of doing, rather than of any conscious artistic intent.  I quickly fell happily into the pleasures of the paint, pencils and chalk. I work on several pieces at once, in order not to get too attached to the outcome and to embrace the unexpected and enjoy the happy accidents . The works are built up of many layers, often sanded back, added to again and then scraped and scratched back into. They emerged, I think, with a carefreeness, but reflect the days of flow or frustration, the feelings of being up or down. A disorderly attempt to make sense of things.
